Lawyers Life and Profession
Lawyers Life:
Every year begins with new hopes and aims and also with a vision to achieve more and rise high. In the same way, year 2020 began with high hopes and enthusiasm to rise and achieve new things either in professional or personal life. People had dreams to ameliorate their life with every new day, same was with lawyers and students who were passing law in the same year like mid of 2020, many waiting for judiciary exams, Lawyers were looking for new opportunities with the changing laws and day by day development in society but then this pandemic COVID 19 spread in such a manner that it stopped or say paused the day to day activities of people in their professional life and personal life as well. Dreams of many were shattered, many got disheartened, many turned jobless, people got to do work from home atleast they were being paid but the struggling lawyers and the once who stepped in were turned hand to mouth with no resources for their livelihood.
Law is a field where you face new issues and challenges every day and in this pandemic situation the biggest challenge that Lawyers faced was their day today survival, their livelihood, as the source of income of Lawyers completely depends on court proceedings.
People are very well aware about the professional life of a lawyer that at the initial level Lawyers struggles a lot to settle themselves and generate work if they are first generation lawyer and many even don’t get work for years and they stay as junior to the Lawyers whom they join after graduating law. Indeed, Lawyers don’t even get any government help or fixed salaries for their work. They are in a profession where they dig but are not sure whether everytime they dig they would get water. The life of a lawyer is difficult and sometimes takes a decade or two to make them financially stable or regular work.
It is not like any other profession that you get a job placement form colleges and even law profession jobs are less as compared to other professions. A law graduate steps in law field or practice with high hopes but the day he joins some senior he has to face many things that somewhat frustrates him deep inside like holding the files and follow for long time period and sometimes being asked to perform clerical work also. Initially the juniors are being sent to take date or get the proceedings extended with an adjournment upon the non availability of senior. It is said that if a junior wants to learn he has to walk an extra mile to find out the tactics and process that is being followed by his senior and the work is being done otherwise it turns out hard for them to get independent in future because none of your seniors will spoon feed you or open their cards to make you learn. At most of the places the juniors are not being paid for whatever they do for their seniors and not the subsistence allowance that frustrates a junior a lot and with this a junior starts loosing the interest in the said field.
There are many law graduates who changes their profession in a year or two after being getting frustrated from litigation process and above that because of no earning as they are being compared with their friends who does different courses and get handsome salary from the very first month they join companies.
We still do not have that legal infrastructure for lawyers or law graduates that they get independent from the very first day after being graduated or getting themselves registered As Lawyers. It is not only about the pandemic situation but even in the regular course of their profession.
